I love green smoothies. I too have tried many variations of them, however I have found that the one I like the best is almost to a "T" of yours.

1 banana
1 Cup or so of frozen fruit
1 Cup of Vanilla Soy Milk
1 tsp flax oil
1 Heaping handful of spinach

I mix it thoroughly so there are no remains of any spinach left or anything else. I have also done cucumbers in with it, can't really taste the cucumbers either. It's a great delicious drink!

I'm pretty haphazard with my measurements. I put in a couple handfuls of spinach, one frozen banana, a handful of frozen berries, a scoop of powder, maybe a few almonds, a smattering of ground flaxseed (switching to oil after it's gone), etc. My spinach isn't frozen yet, so maybe that's why yours is thicker. David told me to use warm water to thaw things out a bit if it was too cold.

I haven't noticed anything gritty from the soy protein, but there are different types of protein powder, so maybe yours is a little rougher than mine. I think my scoop is equal to 3-4 tablespoons.

Well, as the first official smoothie I've ever made, it isn't too bad. I think I need some more specifics - like exactly how much of each ingredient to put in there...my smoothie is somewhat thick, is it supposed to be? I used pears instead of banana, because we didn't have any bananas. I used blueberries and frozen chopped spinach. Oh, and how much protein powder is a 'scoop'? My protein container has no scoop, so I put two heaping tablespoons. Perhaps that's the gritty stuff I'm tasting? I did get the flax oil, so that is in there. Maybe I'll get better at this - I sure hope so!

Ok, I've had two of these so far, and they're not at all bad. Yes, I can tell there is spinach in it, but just barely. If someone handed it to me and didn't tell me what was in it, I don't think I would guess there was any sort of vegetable in it. First of all, if you put berries in then it's not green, it's dark purple. Second, it's a lot sweeter than you would think with the berries in there (I'm putting in frozen mixed berries from Costco--blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries?).

Even though water is the base, it's "creamier" than I would have expected. I think the soy protein powder helps somewhat with that. Today I threw a few almonds in there and I think that helps as well. I haven't bought the flax seed oil yet so I'm not sure how that will affect the flavor, but replacing a meal with one of these is not going to be a problem for me. It's fast to make, fast to eat, and hey hey, I don't mind the taste.
